To: Cookie Managers and Troop Leaders Subject: [GS] Cookie Kickoff News from the CEO Another message from the council meant for broad distribution concerning the upcoming media events. -- Dear Cookie Chair, First, I want to sincerely thank you for all you are doing to make our 2006 Cookie Program a big success! It is not only a great learning experience for your girls, but it will provide them with the resources for many fun and exciting activities this year. I also want to let you know about the great "Cookie Kickoff" we have planned for tomorrow. At 7:00a.m.,we are hosting 30 girls who were our top cookie sellers last year to attend a breakfast at the Boston Stock Exchange. In addition to learning about the history of the Exchange, they will be treated to discussions with women who are sales and marketing professionals who will share their ideas about the skills that can be gained from participating in the cookie sale. After that, our girls will become part of a "media blitz" heading to local television stations, radio stations and newspapers to deliver cookies and talk about their experience selling cookies as well as how much fun it is to participate in Girl Scouts! Some of the stations that they will be visiting include: Fox TV morning show and numerous radio stations including: Kiss 108, WJMN, WRKO, WBOS, and WZLX for their live morning shows. I will be on UPN channel 38 between 7:00am and 7:30am and on NECN between 8:00am - 8:30am with some of our girls. I will be calling in to the Howie Carr show at 5:20 pm (Howie actually used to be a troop leader for his girls when they were young) and will be joining staff member Marcela Aldaz-Osorio and some girls on WUNI (Spanish television) to tape a brief piece later in the morning. So stay tuned to your favorite morning radio show, you might just hear a Girl Scout! We have other promotions that will continue to generate excitement for our cookie sale: On the Saturday before the Super Bowl, we will be partnering with Stop and Shop for the "Big Game Cookie Tailgate". Stop and Shop will allow numerous booth sales at targeted stores throughout the council and will be spreading the word to local customers to stock up on Girl Scout cookies when they are buying the food they will be eating while watching the Patriots win the championship! Also, on February 8th from 6-8pm, we are hosting "An Evening of Cookie Creations" at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. Local chefs will be taking Girl Scout Cookies and using them as ingredients to make desserts that will be judged by local celebrities. Phantom Gourmet's Dan Andelman, CN8 News' Sarah Zapp, and Tony V, comedian and cast member of Showtime's "The Brotherhood" will have the tough job of picking the winners. For a $50 donation, you can join a lot of fun Girl Scout supporters in tasting the award winning desserts. Please share the news with your friends and family! Have fun, and thanks again for all of your hard work.
